Here’s a list of my top 5 best smartphones of 2011. These are the best in their class. All of them boast gorgeous display, slim bodies, dual core processors, superb cameras with LED flash and a whole lot of connectivity. Here goes the list after the jump.

1. MOTOROLA RAZR

Motorola RAZR won 1st place in my heart because this is the slimmest of them all.  With a mind boggling waistline of 7.1 mm.

2. SONY ERICSSON EXPERIA ARC

TOP 5 BEST SMARTPHONES OF 2011

I like this one because between the five of them, only Sony Ericsson Experia Arc has a gorgeous metal body.

3. APPLE IPHONE 4S

I’m not an apple fan, but I just need to include the iPhone 4S or apple fanatics will kill me. (I know they will, cause some strange van is waiting outside my house…)

4. Samsung Galaxy Nexus

TOP 5 BEST SMARTPHONES OF 2011

Among the bunch, the Nexus has the largest screen with a 4.65 inch LCD real estate.

5. Samsung Galaxy S II

This was my first favorite until top 1 to 4 came along. So I still need to include this. But still this is one of the best.

Well, well well! Apple fans rejoice! iPhone 5 release date has been announced. It took millenniums for some, but the waiting is finally over since it has been reported that Tim Cook will be showcasing the iPhone 5 on October 4. There are also rumors tagging along with the unveiling of the release of their major product, there are other apple devices that will be announced during that date. Speculators believe that the devices may be another set of new generations of  iPods, iPads and also the new iOS 5.

Mysteriously, it is not clear whether they will announce the new iPhone as iPhone 5 or as iPhone 4S. Nevertheless, whatever they will call it on the release date, Apple consumers are still going crazy with anticipation. Even Apple haters are probably waiting to see what the iPhone 5 will look like. Another good news is, if the release date on October 4 will continue, expect the iPhone 5 to hit the stores on October 15. That is major WOW! to all Apple fanatics.

So before we finish, get a piece of napkin and wipe the drool off your face and your table. Let’s just wait for the release date to come. Patience is virtue, it’s only less than 2 weeks anyway. Be ready to swipe that card like most do. But if your gangstah-rapper rich, lucky for you! You won’t feel the laser-like-burning-sensation in your pocket.

IPAD KILLER TABLET

Coming right behind the wave of the much talked about iPhone 4 is the next big thing in the Internet connected device market?the creation and launch of several versions of what is considered to be the Ipad killer tablet.

The competitor versions can indeed give the Ipad a run for its money with improved features, some of which are not in Apple?s device. Consumers will also be happy to learn that there’s more than one killer tablet model to choose from. Prices are also competitive since even lesser-known brands are taking advantage of this wave.

Toshiba Australia recently made a big move with its version of the Ipad named Libretto W100. The killer part of this dual screen device? It’s the first tablet to be built on the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. It also boasts of two touch screens and a reversible keyboard allowing it to switch from a clam-style notebook into an e-book reader. The device also packs a punch with its Intel U5400 processor and 2GB of RAM. Plus, it has a USB port–a feature not on Apple’s version, WiFi, a built-in webcam and integrated Bluetooth. Form-wise, it’s thicker than Apple’s device but it weighs just less than a kilo. And this is just the first of its kind to be launched.

AsusTeck Computer also has its own Ipad version whose killer feature is also Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. This tablet version is set for release later this year or early 2011.

A pattern is obvious–both these devices feature Windows 7 operating systems. Apparently, the Ipad’s biggest competitors are Microsoft-powered. This is not surprising however, since Microsoft already has several years of experience in integrating built-in technologies in various devices. Microsoft?s operating system is already familiar to most users?giving Apple?s competitors a killer edge for their Internet connected tablets.

But that?s not Apple?s only concern. More Ipad killer Android tablets are expected to be launched by other competitors. Even the less popular brands are taking advantage of the Android platform which is open source and compatible with almost any type of hardware.

The competitors just keep piling up. Also in the running with their own Ipad killer devices include Notion Ink’s ADM–a high definition device featuring a camera, a USB port and black and white e-reader display. Cisco Systems also plans to launch an Android version called Cius featuring front and back facing cameras. Cisco emphasizes that video conferencing capabilities will be the main business of this tablet.
